Staffordshire University 2011 – Enterprising Days were approached by Staffordshire University’s Business School to develop a bespoke Enterprise Challenge to help promote the Business school. During Global Enterprise Week the Enterprising days team visited four local schools and ran the Dragons Challenge event. The winning teams from each day were then invited to a finals day at the University where they got to pitch their ideas to a judging panel from the Business school. Below are some comments from some of the schools who took part.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, which allowed our students to showcase their creative talents.
Mrs Holyhead Blessed William Howard
Hi Ben and Mike – just wanted to say thanks for supporting Global Enterprise Week. You did a great job in planning, organising and delivering a major enterprise challenge in such a short space of time – well done! Our students really enjoyed working with you and learned lots about business and entrepreneurship and start –up business opportunities. They also now have a good insight to how Staffordshire University can support their career aspirations – both academically in the courses offered and also in terms of the advice and guidance for potential entrepreneurs.
The event raised the profile of Global Enterprise Week and helped to involve lots of students and staff in a prestige enterprise event.
Great job !

Stoke On Trent Apprentice Challenge – In the summer of 2010 Enterprising Days were approached by Councillors in Stoke on Trent to develop a bespoke summer programme to help engage young people in the city during the summer break. Stoke On Trent Apprentice Challenge saw over 60 young people aged 10-18 start their own mini businesses and develop their enterprise skills.
Each week the businesses were set a challenge which related to their business. If they hit their targets they were entitled to a prize visit which included trips to Alton Towers, Cadburys World and The Lord Mayors Parlour.
Commenting on the Challenge Jeremy Dillion Councillor for Hanford said ‘I approached Enterprising days about running a project in my ward to get young people to think more enterprising. The Apprentice Challenge was developed and the results exceeded all my expectations’
